Success! I tried to coaster again and it worked. I also sanded down the original and you can see how that worked out in the video. Thanks for hanging tight with me on this one!
You will need:
– Coaster mold
– Resin – I used Easy Cast
– Twigs
– Acrylic paint – light brown, dark brown, gold
– Paint brush
– Skewer stick
– Moss
– Tiny manger figures (I found mine at Michaels)
– Fine dark blue glitter
– Fast drying super glue (clear)

Directions:
1. Prepare your resin, according to the package directions. Mix in glitter.
2. Pour into mold. Allow to cure.
3. Paint on the back wall of the manger. I did it with a lighter brown and followed up with streaks of darker brown and gold.
4. Cut twigs to create the roof and outer walls of the manger. You will need three sticks for each part.
5. Glue them together – lay two flat, add a little glue and put the third on top, like a pyramid. I show you in the video, if you want to see how I did it.
6. I used my Dremel tool to shave a little bit off of Mary and Joseph, only because they didn’t lay flat. Once I shaved them, they were fine.
7. I used two small pieces of twig and glued them together to create a cross. I glued that to the coaster.
8. With a skewer stick, I painted one star in the sky. Allow to dry.
9. Prepare more resin.
10. I dropped Mary and Joseph into the resin and made sure they were well covered. I then placed them on the coaster.
11. I dropped my glued twigs into the resin and made sure they were well covered. Letting them soak up some resin will go a long way in preventing future bubbles.
12. Then take them out and place them onto the coaster. Wood floats in resin, but if you place them down with a little resin, the resin will cure and hold them in place when you do your next pour.
13. Drip some resin over the cross and make sure it is covered with resin.
14. Take moss and rip or cut into tiny pieces. Mix into resin and make sure it is saturated. With your stir stick, remove from the resin, giving it a moment to drain. Place into the bottom of the coaster, by Mary and Joseph’s feet.
15. Drop baby Jesus into the resin and place him in the coaster.
16. Allow to cure.
17. Prepare more resin – you will likely have to go all the way to the top of the mold – and pour into mold.
18. Keep an eye on the bubbles and remove as necessary.
19. Let it cure.
That’s it! Unmold it and you have a beautiful and festive coaster!
