How to Make a Toilet Paper Roll Turkey Crafts
Step 1: The Body
When you think turkey craft paper, think brown construction paper.
You are going to make the body by covering the toilet paper roll with brown construction paper.
Roll the toilet paper roll in the brown construction paper. Where the construction paper meets, make a mark – give yourself a little bit of overlap. Cut at that mark.
Roll it into the construction paper again and leave about half an inch on either side of the tube. Make a mark, unroll it, and cut.
Put some of your glue at one end of the construction paper and glue it onto the toilet paper roll. Put glue at the other end of the construction paper and roll it tight onto the tube.
Cut strips on the ends of the tube, but don’t cut into the tube.
Put glue onto the end of each of the strips and fold them into the tube. Repeat on the other end. That allows the turkey craft paper to create a clean edge.
Step 2: Festive Fall Feathers
Cut out feather shapes from various colors of construction paper and glue them to the back of the roll – where the seam is.
Step 3: The Eyes, Beak, and Wattle
Cut red construction paper into a wattle. Cut a triangle from yellow construction paper for the beak. Glue on the beak, wattle and googly eyes.
Let the kids decorate their turkeys with markers or crayons, adding patterns, names, or Thanksgiving messages.
