Recycled Nail Polish Jewelry DIY

It’s time to do some more magic with our glass gems!  This time we are going to transform them using nail polish, markers and stickers!

Pull out that old nail polish you don’t use anymore and let’s recycle/reuse/repurpose it!

You will need:

–  Outline stickers – I brand I used is Starform.  They were recommended to me by one of my viewers.  As I understand it, they are available through scrapbook suppliers.  I did not find them at my local craft store.  You can order them through Amazon, but not all designs are available.  You might have to search around a little.  The specific design I used was sheet 1018.  However, they have TONS of different designs available, so let your imagination run wild!
–  Nail polish – clear coat and varying colors and the glitter ones are great too!
–  Permanent markers
–  Fine glitter
–  Jewelry bail
–  Glue – I recommend a Weldbond or Crafter’s Ultimate
–  Glass gems – You can find them online, but they are available at craft stores and Dollar Tree!

Here are some of the items I used, available through Amazon, incase you want to give it a try – I could not find the exact stickers, but I put some other ones on there, so you know what to look for:

Here is the video tutorial:

Directions:
1.  Clean the stones with a glass cleaner, or rubbing alcohol to make sure dirt and oils are not on the stones and the stickers and polish will adhere better.
2.  Remove the sticker from the sheet and put it on the back (flat side) of the stone.  We will be working ONLY on the back side of the stone.  You will be able to see the design through the domed side.
3.  Once you have the sticker placed on the stone, you want to make sure it is on there securely.  I used my bone folder to rub it down, or you can use a popsicle stick.  Just make sure to burnish it down carefully.
4.  Take clear nail polish or polish with glitter in it and apply it to the back of the stone, over the sticker.  You only need a thin layer, but you want to make sure you have it fully covered.  Allow to dry.
5.  Take markers and color in areas as you wish.  Allow to dry.
6.  Go over it with glitter polish if you want or move onto another color polish – even a white polish.  Allow to dry.
7.  In the video, I show how I made each of the ones in the picture above.  Just experiment and try different layers of different things!  When everything is dry, take a toothpick with a good glue and apply a generous amount to the bail or the ring blank.  I suggest working on wax paper or parchment paper, just so you don’t accidentally get glue on your work surface.  Allow to dry.
8.  Slip it on your finger or put a chain through the bail and you have a necklace!

One of a kind jewelry!!  Perfect for gifts, sleepover or birthday activities, or just because!

You can turn them into Christmas ornaments, like I did last year!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!
