Look what I did with construction paper! I made a gingerbread house from scratch and turned it into a paper and resin coaster! It’s a great Christmas craft idea to go with your home decor! Get the kids involved to add their artistic flair!

Here is the video tutorial, so you can see exactly how I made it!
Directions:
1. I cut a rectangle and a triangle out of brown construction paper.
2. I brushed Mod Podge on one side of the construction paper and then put them on a fresh surface to dry. Otherwise, you will get it stuck to whatever surface you applied the Mod Podge.
3. Once it dried, I applied Mod Podge onto the backside. The paper will curl after the first coat, that is why you need to apply it to both sides.
I did three to four times on each side.
4. Once dry, I brushed a thin line of Mod Podge onto the top edge of the rectangle and glued on the triangle (roof).
5. Then I used white paint to decorate it.
6. I put the dried gingerbread house on a silicone mat. You can also put it on parchment paper, just make sure it is laying flat. I mixed one ounce of resin and poured it over the gingerbread house.
7. I spread it around with my stir stick, to make sure it reached the edges. Then, I used my lighter to pop the bubbles. I let it cure for at least 12 hours.
8. Once cured, I carefully peeled it off the silicone. I had some jagged edges. I used my scissors to easily trim them off.
9. I cut a piece of cork, larger than the size of the coaster.
10. I added glue to the edges, so it will last long term.
11. I removed the paper backing and then stuck the gingerbread house to it.
12. I flipped it over and rubbed it down really good.
13. I used my scissors to trim off the excess. TIP: The resin may not have full cured yet, so the resin may still be bendy. The cork I have is on a roll, so it I wanted to make sure the cork didn’t bend the coaster. I put it under a book to make sure it laid flat until if cured a little further or the cork wanted to stay flat.
That’s it! It’s supposed to have a folk art type of look and be a gingerbread house. It’s neutral enough to go with any home decor!
