Valentine’s Day Coaster | Another Coaster Friday

Even if your heart’s been broke so many times, keep believing in love!  Listen to your heart and make an easy drink coaster!  I’m making a Valentine’s Day Coaster.  It’s easy and a fun home decor idea.  Remember, hearts aren’t just for Valentine’s Day.  Heart crafts are always in style!

Even though this is made as a coaster, think room decor!  It would make a striking grouping as wall decor.  It’s a great activity for kids and teens to work on with you!

Here is the video tutorial, so you can see exactly how I made it:

Materials you will need:

Laser cut hearts:  https://amzn.to/3abnifP
Red multi-surface paint:  https://amzn.to/38cCLKu
Black multi-surface paint:  https://amzn.to/30swFTW

Directions:
1.  I scoured my craft room to come up with this project.  I knew I had hearts leftover from last years project and wanted to use some of them up.  I also had the wood disc/round.

2.  I started by painting the disc black.  I used multi-surface paints because of their durability.

3.  Then I painted the hearts red.  Remember to paint the edges and you may want to do two coats.

4.  Once everything was dry, I came up with how I wanted the hearts placed.

5.  I took glue and painted it on the backs of each of the hearts.  I wanted enough for it to stick, but I didn’t want so much that it gushed out the edges.  Then, I let everything dry.

So far so good!  With the multi-surface paints, I don’t think I need to do any additional sealing.

6.  I took out my cork and cut a piece larger than the coaster.

7.  I used glue around the edges.  The cork has adhesive on it, but I don’t know how durable that adhesive is.  I like to give it a little extra support and strength by using a bead of glue at the edges.

8.  I removed the paper backing that covers the adhesive.  I placed the coaster on the adhesive side of the cork.

9.  I rubbed the cork down really well.

 10.  I trimmed off the excess with my craft knife.

11.  I used a file/emery board to gently sand any rough edges on the cork.

12.  Now it’s all finished!  Yay!

Thanks for stopping by!  Remember:  Life’s too short not to shimmer, so grab your glue gun and your glitter!™  Stay safe!
