Are you ready for another Garbage to Gorgeous ®? Today I am giving a rocking chair, that my sister garbage picked, a makeover. It’s going to be more of a manly makeover, from rocking chair to Whiskey Sippin’ Chair! Think gift for Dad or husband, man cave decor, etc.
The links below help support this channel, as I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
You will need:
– An old chair, the one I had happened to be a rocking chair.
– Stripper: https://amzn.to/29tEAnZ
– Black/ebony stain with poly: https://amzn.to/29zWveq (this is not the one I used, but appears to be similar)
– Whiskey fabric – Do a google search. I also saw wine fabric and tequila fabric. Pick whatever suits your tastes!
– Quilt batting: https://amzn.to/29tFxN9
– Foam padding (go to fabric store, so you can see it and feel it)
– Staple gun & staples: https://amzn.to/29zXDin

– Paint brushes: https://amzn.to/29whtZv
– Odorless mineral spirits: https://amzn.to/29z19gI

– If you have to staple the cushion from the top, be sure to pick up some coordinating trim to cover the staples.

Here is the video tutorial:
Directions:
1. Strip the chair. Use the stripper and scrape it all off. This will take time, will possibly be a little frustrating, but totally worth it!
2. Once stripped, wipe it down with odorless mineral spirits to remove any excess stripper.
3. Do a light sand and wipe it down.
4. Stain the wood whatever color you like. I chose an ebony because I wanted a deep, rich color.
5. Remove the existing cushion. Replace with new padding, batting and fabric.
6. Staple it into place.
7. If necessary, cover the staples with trim. I used a combination of hot glue and Ultimate glue.
That’s it! Enjoy your new chair! Have a drink on me!
